About this space
A beautiful, spacious community hall for hire in the heart of Grey Lynn. With bamboo floors, excellent natural light, and easy indoor–outdoor flow to a sunny courtyard, this flexible venue works just as well for community gatherings as it does for celebrations, performances, and workshops.
Ideal for community groups, dance and fitness classes, weddings, presentations, film screenings, huis, training sessions, small concerts, and choir rehearsals.
Please note: the decking and playground areas are shared communal spaces and are not for exclusive use.

All bookings are time-inclusive. Please ensure your booking covers setup, pack-down, and cleaning, as the hall may be used directly before or after your event.
Bond
A $250 bond is required for all bookings and is held on your credit or debit card.
Once your event has concluded and the space has been checked, the bond release is initiated. The time it takes for funds to reappear in your account depends on your bank, with most banks releasing held funds within 3–10 working days. Bonds are rarely withheld and are only used if damage or additional cleaning is required.

Kitchen & catering
The hall has access to a shared kitchen with a serving hatch into the hall. You’re welcome to self-cater or use external caterers.

Other centre users may access the kitchen during your booking for tea and coffee. Please bring your own cutlery, crockery, glassware, and all cooking or serving equipment.
Alcohol
Alcohol may be served at your event. Professional cleaning is mandatory for all events serving alcohol.
If alcohol will be sold, a licence from Auckland Council is required. Special licences can take up to 25 days to process.
Presentations
If you require presentation equipment, please remember to add the commbox to your booking.
Decorations & parties
You’re welcome to decorate the hall to suit your event.
Please note:
Pins, tape, or materials that may damage walls are not permitted
Blu Tack is allowed
All decorations, fixings, and ties must be removed by the end of your booking
No confetti, rice, or party poppers in outdoor areas
The hall can accommodate a bouncy castle, and external event hire companies are welcome. All items brought into the venue must be removed by the end of your booking. Storage and setup outside booked times are not available.
21st birthday parties are permitted; however, security is required. We have a preferred supplier and will coordinate this with you at checkout.
Cleaning
The hall must be left in the same condition it was found. Cleaning tools are available on request.
If you’re unable to commit to this, please select the cleaning option at checkout. Cleaning is mandatory for events serving alcohol.
Music & sound
Live music, DJs, and amplified sound are welcome. The hall has excellent acoustics and power outlets for sound and lighting equipment.
Amplified sound must finish by 11pm
There is no in-house sound system — please bring your own PA if required
Doors must remain closed when amplified sound is in use, as the centre is located in a residential neighbourhood
Location
Grey Lynn Community Centre is located on Richmond Road, surrounded by neighbourhood shops and some of Auckland’s best cafés. It’s an ideal spot for coffee breaks, lunch nearby, or post-event drinks.

Rules
To help keep the hall safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone, please follow these guidelines:
The decking and playground are shared communal spaces and are not for exclusive use during your booking.
No smoking or vaping anywhere in or around the facility.
No naked flames, including candles.
BBQs and smoke machines are not permitted.
Glitter is not allowed, as it is difficult to clean.
Please take care not to activate the fire alarm. If the fire service is called out due to misuse, any associated fines may be charged to the hirer.
Decorations & Wall Use
Do not use Sellotape, push-pins, tacks, nails, or Blu-Tack on painted walls.
Blu-Tack may be used on the wooden walls only.
All decorations, string, and Blu-Tack must be fully removed before the end of your booking.
Leaving the Space
The hall must be left in the same condition as you found it.
Cleaning tools are available on request.
There is no on-site rubbish disposal — all rubbish must be taken with you at the end of your event.

Additional details
The centre offers 20 free, private on-site parking spaces, available on a first-come, first-served basis for all users. Additional free residential street parking is available within a five-minute walk. The centre is also well serviced by public transport, located on the 105 bus route connecting Westmere and the CBD.
